LABW Categories

[edit]

Hi DaxServer, thanks for your upload of the images from LABW! Would it be possible to add {{Check categories}} to the images? This would make it significantly easier to find images that have not been properly categorized. --Entbert (talk) 15:50, 12 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Entbert Thanks for the suggestion. I'll add it to the new uploads. Do you think it'd be beneficial to add them to the already uploaded ones? If so, could you post it to Commons:Batch uploading/Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg so that we can see how we can do that? Thanks! -- DaxServer (talk) 09:43, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! Yes, I think it would be beneficial, see my comment on that page. --Entbert (talk) 13:33, 13 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Advice on transferring larger files to Commons

[edit]

Hi! I hope you have a good time :).

I need advice on how to upload larger files to Commons via URL as batch. URL2Commons has limitations on the number of uploads at once and in file size per file (I guess it's 100 MiB because of the old file size limit). Downloading and reuploading of several Terabytes takes a lot of time 😴. Thanks and kind regards :) --PantheraLeo1359531 😺 (talk) 10:39, 15 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi @PantheraLeo1359531 Hope you're well as well ;)
I'd recommend using asking for the domain(s) to be whitelisted at MediaWiki:Copyupload-allowed-domains, that way you do not have to download and re-upload. Then, use OpenRefine (or other batch uploading tools) to do the upload by URL: Commons:Upload tools#Uploading by URL
Let me know if that works for you. If not, I can suggest other alternatives. Cheers :) -- DaxServer (talk) 10:57, 15 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
